Adsense Income and Search Engine Optimization
Before you read this, note that I've been generating an increasing amount of income from Adsense and I've created a sister site to Adwords Income called . . . Adsense Income! So this article is about SEO and how you can drive more traffic through search engine optimization - and make more Adsense Income in the process.
Question:
What's the most affordable way to achieve high rankings on the search engines?
Answer:
There are numerous approaches to achieving high search engine rankings. There are some software packages available that will help. I really like anything Dr. Andy Williams does, so I'd like for more info through him.
While most people focus on Google, Yahoo and MSN are a close 2nd and 3rd and their results are based more on the on-page factors. Personally, I wouldn't concern myself with Google if I were you. Learn to SEO a page, then worry (if you choose to, and I don't) about playing Google's game.
As a case in point, do a search for "adwords income" on Yahoo. 4 of the top 10 listings are mine. Hmm. OK the top 5 at Google are mine too, but that's besides the point.
Here are my quick and easy SEO recommendations:
1. Include primary keywords in domain or folder name.
2. Limit page title to keywords only.
3. Name pages exactly the keywords, ie, adwords-income.html
4. Use the keywords in at least one headline using H1 tags.
5. Use the keywords, and related keywords, throughout the article.
6. Build your sites on a consistent theme.
7. Create companion blog at Blogger.com and post an excerpt from new articles, along with a link to the page to get it spidered quicker (be sure the link text includes your keywords, ie, instead of "click this link", use "adsense income" - then add the blog to your my.yahoo.com account. (Lots has already been written on how to do this, so I won't go into anymore detail)
8. If you focus on a certain niche, shoot for domination in the listings. This is a process, but I have several niches where you'll find I have 4 or more of the top 10 listings in search results.
Cost of all this?
Nothing but my time.
Best wishes, John
